Ben Verling, Registered Osteopath, offers treatment for a range of problems, working from the Topsham Osteopathy Clinic which is based in Topsham, an estuary town 4 miles outside the city of Exeter.
Osteopathy is a manual therapy aimed to improve the function of the whole body. Osteopaths not only treat people suffering from acute and chronic pain, but also help them maintain a healthy approach to life.
Each person is assessed as an individual and once a diagnosis has been formed, a personal treatment plan is formulated including advice for future prevention of the problem.
Patients Present to the Practice with:
Back Pain
Osteopathy is an effective form of treatment for acute and chronic low back pain. Combinations of specialised massage, stretching and manipulation techniques are used to help alleviate these symptoms. Osteopathy can also help with sciatica where the nerves in the back get irritated and cause pain and numbness to travel into the leg and foot.
Neck Pain
Osteopathy can help with acute and chronic neck pain that in turn can lead to tension headaches, dizziness and migraines. Whiplash disorders are also treated.
Other Joint & Muscle Pain
Osteopath's do not only treat backs. Examples of other joint and muscle pain we often treat includes frozen shoulder, general shoulder girdle pain, tennis elbow and Plantar fasciitis in the foot. Arthritic pain symptoms can be reduced, in particular of the hip and knee joints. We regularly see patient's complaining of pain from postural stress due to their work environment, whether they are sat behind a computer at a desk or working on a building site.
